Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted
Published in Hardcover by Little Brown & Co (Juv Trd) (September, 1986)
Author: Mairi Hedderwick
Average review score:

Excellent book dealing with arrival of new sibling
The Katie Morag series of books paints a lovely picture of rural life on a remote Scottish island. In this story Katie Morag is feeling jealous of all the attention her new sibling is getting, and how she comes to terms with it. The illustrations are beautiful.

The best children's book in our family's collection
Mairi Hedderwick is a genius. Katie entertains us in story after story (we have a complete collection in our family) and we feel like we know everyone in the village, too.

The La-Di-Da Hare
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (April, 1997)
Authors: J. Patrick Lewis, Diana Cain Bluthenthal, and Diane Blusenthal

Our very favorite kids' book
Sweet without being saccharine, luscious illustration, an incredible book for kids and grown-ups about friendship, adventure, and longing. We've given a dozen of these this year.

Two strangers discover happiness with an irrepressible Hare.
It may be the Year of the Ox, but thanks to J. Patrick Lewis, The La-di-da Hare is the book of the year. A Mouse and a Bear set sail for the Island of Oh where they discover the Zsa-Zsa Gabor of Hares, with a two- carrot ring. She offers her guests Bermuda shorts, designer shades in an irresistible vacation spa. It is here that the Bear and the Mouse decide they will stay until pigs fly. On a more ontological level, it is the story of Eden after Adam. And what child--indeed what adult-- does not want to experience life like that: the abode of the La-di-da Hare, especially when delectable bagels and lox await us. That, and a virtual Zabar's of haute kosher cuisine. Susan G. Marceau

Let's Go Home, Little Bear
Published in School & Library Binding by Candlewick Press (April, 1993)
Authors: Martin Waddell and Barbara Firth
Average review score:

You cannot go wrong with this book.
This is a cute story about Big Bear and Little Bear. As they are heading home from a walk in the snow, Little Bear becomes concerned that he has heard "plodders", "drippers" and "ploppers". Big Bear points out the source of these noises, and eases Little Bear's mind. This book is cute, funny, comforting, and an easy read. It is a good bedtime length (not too long) book. I think Martin Waddell is a fantastic children's book writer, and I highly recommend this book for children up to 8 or 9.

Excellent
My two year old really loves this book! We snuggle up to read this and my two yr old, holds tighter and tighter as the book progresses. The content is exciting, the illustrations are great-what more is needed? Great story!

The Life and Times of Gummy Bears
Published in Paperback by Harperperennial Library (October, 1993)
Author: Hans Traxler
Average review score:

From the publisher's description
Illustrated in full color, this little book traces the history of the Gummy Bears with deadpan text and 70 outlandish illustrations. It reveals the heretofore unknown role of Gummy Bears, those colorful, excessively chewy candy creatures, throughout history.

Funny Gummy's...
This book is very funny. The author is very clever in the way he has place the Gummy Bears in different historical and day to day settings. My favorites are the North Pole, The Titanic, the Chicago Gang wars, bikini wearing on the beach and the pizza toppings! I laughed out loud the whole time I was reading it. I would recommend this book for any age, but especially kids.

Little Bear Boxed Set: Little Bear / Father Bear Comes Home / Little Bear's Visit
Published in Paperback by Harpercollins Juvenile Books (May, 1992)
Authors: Maurice Sendak and Else Holmelund Minarik
Average review score:

A great value on wonderful stories
These stories are engaging and very well written for little children. My son, who is 2 1/2, loves Little Bear and was very happy that we had books about him to read in addition to watching the cartoons on Noggin. The set has a variety of brief stories that are appropriate for small children's attention span and awareness levels. The only minor issue we have with these books is that they are a bit fimsy but that is a very minor issue given their wonderful content.

Little Bear is a Heart Warmer!
Ever since I was a little girl I've enjoyeed the Little Bear series of books. These short stories have a timeless charm that enchant both reader and listener. The stories bring to life the thoughts and experiences of young children through the main character, Little Bear, with his friends and family. Meeting a new friend, exploring the moon, visiting grandparents, waiting for a parent to return home from a business trip and listening to stories are some of the topics for these beautifully written stories. Once again I've learned to love these books all over again with my daughter. Her name is Emily and she loves hearing her name when the stories are read to her! These are wonderful stories that are just the right length for bed time reading. Enjoy!

12 charming tales for Little Bear fans (and their children)
Else Minarik's Little Bear is a gentle soul -- a bear cub who is a loving son to his parents, an affectionate charge to his grandparents and a good friend to Owl, Cat, Hen, Duck and Emily, the little girl who visits in the summer. The stories are filled with quiet humor, affection and imagination as Little Bear and his friends celebrate birthdays, play games, meet new friends and explore their neighborhood. Your young child will love these stories.

The book itself is a great value. Cover art lies directly on a sturdy binding, and this volume contains the complete contents of three books: Little Bear, Little Bear's Friend and Little Bear's Visit. That's twelve stories, with charming illustrations by Maurice Sendak.

Lovely book, terrific value.

Little Bear Won'T Go To Bed
Published in Paperback by Millbrook Press (September, 2000)
Author: Jutta Langreuter
Average review score:

One of our favorite books
This book could have been written with my daughter instead of Little Bear. We read this book every night before bed. My 3 year-old loves it and has for years. I also think it's adorable, so I don't mind reading it over and over again. Little Bear is just like so many kids who don't want to go to sleep or who want to sleep with mom and dad. Great book for kids!

Excellent book for all kids--esp. those who hate sleeping!
This is one of my 3-year-old's favorite books. Little Bear is so cute, and she loves how curious and naughty he is! The sniffing game that his parents play with him is especially cute, and she makes us recreate it while reading. This book has been especially helpful in getting her ready to move from our room to her own big-girl bed, as Little Bear learns that sleeping with his "guys" in his own bed is really the best place for him. We read it every night before bed, and I suspect she will love it for years to come.

Little Bear's Bedtime
Published in Hardcover by Hutchinson Childrens Books (January, 1992)
Author: Jane Hissey

My son's FAVORITE book
This is a simple, charming book. The rhyming text is short enough to hold my little one's attention (he's almost 11 months), and the pictures are adorable. We're wearing out the library's copy, and I'm VERY disappointed to see it's out of print.

Beautifully illustrated!
Little Bear and his friends are traditional toys which are illustrated as beautifully in the books as they are on the tv program. The little story about Little Bear building up to his bed-time is set out as a ryhme and on each page he carries out a daily activity with a different companion which small children will recognise and adore. Lovely pictures and poetry for infants!

Little Bear's Bedtime (Talking Teddies)
I love this book! It has a story line that children (and parents) can relate to. The pictures are colorful and cute. With a push button on each page that activates the voice of the mother bear, your child can be involved in the reading of the story also. I read this book to my first child, now 8 years old, every night at bedtime; and although our book no longer is capable of the voice feature, I am reading it to my second child who will be one year old. If you can get your hands on this hard-to-find book, I am sure you and your child will be pleased.

Little Bear's Bedtime
Great children's book full of colorful language, amusing story line and beautiful illustrations. A must for any toddlers' Christmas
